Slovenia is not only one of the youngest but also one of the smallest of the European countries. However, Slovenia's rich heritage and diverse history is as old as the mountains. The country is no bigger than 20,000 square kilometers; yet, its beautiful landscape cannot be overlooked, squeezed between upper reaches of the Adriatic Sea, the Alps, and Pannonian Plains. It is the homeland of people that are hard working and warm-at-heart. This web site and the Slovenian Association / Sava Club are the result of the people that immigrated to Canada in the early 1940's and formed clubs to keep the language and culture that they love so much alive for their children and for generations that follow them. Although the underlying purpose of the Sava Club is to promote Slovenian Culture; the club welcomes all people of diverse backgrounds to participate and/or join our family of club members.
